Springfield Bound? Not Too Late! - SOLD

If you are serious about going to the Maine Anjou Jr. Nationals in Springfield, then you need to be serious about adding this heifer to your string.  Not too late to beat the May 1st ownership deadline.

3/4 Maine heifer that was born 9/11/14, is TH and PHA Free, polled, and sound.  She is mostly halter broke, so it won't take much at all to have her ready to go.

Give Zane a call to get her added to your entries.  817-233-9357

Predator x Jenna Show Heifer Prospects - SOLD

Very exciting to get these 2 ET heifers out of Predator and our ZNT Jenna 707T donor cow. For those that don't know, Jenna is the dam to both ZNT Montego Bay and ZNT Moves Like Jagger.  She is also a full sib to ZNT Triple X. Thank you to the Whitby Family for allowing us to market these heifers for them after purchasing the embryos from us.  Both heifers are 3/4 Maine Anjou, jet black, big footed, smooth polled, and TH and PHA Free. These are the kind that you kick butt in the show ring with, then go on and kick butt with their offspring when they enter the herd.  See our "For Sale" page for additional pictures and prices.

Cow Buying Opportunity - SOLD

Our family has made the decision to sell some of our foundation cows.  These cows have been the framework to ZNT, but with so much of their genetics within our herd, we feel it is a good time to pass these genetics on while these cows have productive years remaining.  Most of these cows have been flushed by us. All cows are registered Maine, and all do, or can have Chi papers.  Cows can be purchased individually, or as a package deal.

Contact Zane Mai for any questions about cows or pricing.  817-233-9357

Maine Calving Ease Sires

The cattle industry is at a crossroads and the Maine Anjou breed specifically.  We (ZNT Cattle) have strived for years to produce Maine Anjou cattle with moderate birth weights, superior maternal characteristics, and free of genetic defects yet are still able to compete in the show ring and on the rail.  We feel Montego Bay and Triple X are the culmination of our herd direction.

Montego Bay's first calf crop has exceeded our expectations with his ability to produce low birth weights and calving ease without compromising muscle and style.  He has consistently stamped his calves with a look and hair that will catch your eye.  Calves have been averaging in the 60-70 pound range out of heifers and 70-80 pound range out of cows. Blood lines and the structural correctness in the calves tell us that his females should go on to make excellent replacement females and bull calves should be marketable as either bulls or show steers.  Our observations are that he is a perfect match for medium to large framed heifers and cows.  More information about Montego Bay {here} and click {here} for past blogs and pictures of calves.

Triple X's true value is now being realized as heifers out of him enter production themselves.  He has proven himself as a heifer-safe sire that provides that extra performance and style.  Offspring have been very competitive in the show ring and are now just as competitive in the pasture as cows.  Birth weights have been in the 60-80 pound range but he provides a smooth shoulder that makes him not just a low birth weight bull, but provides true calving ease.  He is a great match for small to medium framed cattle and cattle that need that extra look.  More information about Triple X can be found {here} and click {here} for past blogs related to Triple X.

Maine Show Bull For Sale

Just pulled ZNT Magic Mike out of the bull lot after a 90 day rest from the show barn.  It is time to start getting ready for the Winter show season. It was a pleasant surprise to still be clipping on 2-3" of leg hair.

Magic Mike is an excellent choice for someone looking to add a solid bull to their show string.  He has already been named Res Maine Bull at the Texas Jr. State Show in April, and a class winner at the National Jr. Maine Show, each time only being beat out for the overall spots by older, more mature bulls.

If you are looking for a bull with tremendous depth of rib, big boned and big footed, tons of leg hair, TH and PHA Free, and a pedigree that includes Sooner, Jazz, Hard Core, Showtime, and CTR Success, he is your man.

ZNT is selling full possession, full show rights, and 3/4 semen interest in ZNT Magic Mike.  We will be more than happy to exhibit him at Ft. Worth, and possibly Houston if the new owner desires. NAILE entries due by Oct. 1st.

Price:  $5000

ZNT Magic Mike w/ Video

Many of you loved him in Grand Island, but for those that missed him, here is an opportunity to own a proven bull in the showring, who is sired by proven genetics that the most discriminant cattleman would love.  With a sire going back to Sooner and Jazz, and a dam sired by Hardcore, a couple of shots of Showtime, and touch of Chi for showring appeal, how can you go wrong?

Magic Mike is a maternal sib to ZNT Montego Bay and ZNT Moves Like Jagger.

Selling full possession and 3/4 semen interest.

ZNT Summer Showcase - Promo Sire Prospect w/ Video

In our opinion, this is going to be the next great sire to come from ZNT Cattle Co.  If you missed out on being a part of Montego Bay, then you need to take a look at this A.I. sire prospect closely.  Pictures and video were taken of him with a camera phone of him rough clipped.  You must see him in person to truly appreciate how good he is.

GVC Suh ET Calves

Thank you Paul Fowler for sending us these pictures of the latest GVC Suh calves out of our Jenna and Audrey donor cows.

Thank You Dennis Garwood

I would like to thank Dennis Garwood or Green Valley Cattle for selling us a semen package of GVC Suh semen 2 years ago.  We used the Suh semen on a couple of flushes, and the calves have exceeded our expectations.  Both the bull and heifer calves are loaded with muscle, soundness, softness, and overall marketability.

Since our Suh bull calves will not be old enough to be used for breeding season this spring, make sure to check out Dennis' Big Picture Genetics bull sale in Atikinson, NE on March 3rd.  Our powerhouse Suh bulls will be ready for breeding this fall, and a select set of show heifer prospects out of our Jenna and Audrey donor cows will be available all through the spring.

Our Herd and Our Focus

After reading a post of "Chambero's" on www.steerplanet.com the other day, I was inspired to go out and get some candid pictures of our herd and discuss our goals and direction of our herd.
For the most part, our base cow herd is comprised of Maine and Chi influence cattle.  Even though a large portion of our calf sales each year are comprised of show prospects, the decisions we make on a daily basis is focused on traits that are good for the commercial producer and the beef industry as a whole.  We concentrate on muscle, structural soundness, fertility, maternal traits, and moderate birthweights, all in an eye appealing package.

Here are a few pictures of our two cow families, and really, they could be consided one since both JAZX Audrey 352N and CTR Sweet Success 2 are both sired by the Chiangus bull CTR Success, but it's the dam side that is the difference.

Picture Day at ZNT Cattle Co

Spring time is almost upon us, and the mud has mostly cleared up, so that made today a perfect day to get pictures of some of our cattle here at ZNT Cattle Co. First up was Montego Bay, our Tyson promotion sire out of our ZNT Jenna 707T heifer. He is 8 1/2 months old in this picture. New video can be found on Montego Bay's page.

Second up was ZNT American Hope. She is a Hardcore daughter out of our CTR Sweet Success 2 donor cow. She was born on September 11, 2009. This maintainer heifer is going to be very competitive this coming fall.

Lastly, we have a yearling bull we just put up on our For Sale page. He is an April 2009 5/8 Maine bull sired by ZNT Triple X. He is low birthweight bull raised by the Kaz Family.
